Before application of wood stain or finish, wood needs to be clean and dry. Weather temperature should be no lower than 40 degrees and rising. Always try to do application in the earlier or later part of day and avoid working in direct sunlight to prevent product from drying too quickly. Never apply when rain is expected within twelve hours. DEFY Epoxy Fortified Wood Stain and DEFY UV-Resistant Clear Wood Finish are both environmentally friendly products that protect wood from the damaging effects of the elements. Both can be applied using an airless sprayer, pump-up sprayer, brush, or a roller. When using a sprayer or roller, you will need to brush the material out to achieve a uniform, even film and avoid over-application and puddling. When spraying, use caution to mask off unwanted areas. If staining a deck,
begin staining with the rails. If siding, begin at the bottom
and work up. In both cases, always work in sections and
stain from one end of board to the other without breaking
in the middle. Beginning with rails, use drop cloths, cardboard
or plastic film to cover the area below the rails from drips.
Apply a single coat to the surface and allow to absorb into
the surface for a minimum of 20 minutes.
