Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin
WHERE TO USE: For use on exterior surfaces in direct sunlight/UV. Not recommended for decks.
DRY TIME: 24 hours between coats. Longer in inadequate ventilation, high humidity or cool temperatures.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin is designed as the top coat portion of our Marine finishing system which performs best over bare wood. For best results, it should be applied liberally at approximately 500 square feet per gallon per coat (125 square feet per quart per coat). Most applications will use a quality natural bristle brush. Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin is not designed to be used as a top coat over other previously finished surfaces.
COVERAGE/THINNING: One gallon covers 500 square feet per coat. One quart covers 125 square feet per coat. No thinning necessary.
NEW WOOD APPLICATION:
1.Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin should be stirred thoroughly before and during use.
2. Waterlox may alter the appearance of the wood. Conduct a test area by applying all intended coats on a scrap piece or an inconspicuous area before beginning the entire project.
3. Apply all coats liberally with the grain using a natural bristle brush.
4. For hardwood species, apply 1 coat of Waterlox Original Marine Sealer. For soft wood species, apply 2 coats of Waterlox Original Marine Sealer. Allow each coat to dry for 24 hours.
5. Apply 2 coats of Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin. Allow each coat to dry for 24 hours. 6. Sanding between coats is not necessary for adhesion purposes but can be done for aesthetic reasons.
PREVIOUSLY FINISHED WOOD APPLICATION: Strip previously finished surfaces to bare wood. Then apply as described under “New Wood Application”.
CLEAN UP: Clean application tools immediately with mineral spirits or turpentine. Properly dispose of rags, applicators and waste. Read carefully other cautions on this label.
STORAGE & DISPOSAL: Keep container closed when not in use. Partially filled containers of Waterlox Original Marine Finish may gel. Read carefully other cautions on this label.
RECOATABILITY: Once the gloss level of the film begins to fade it is time to re-coat the surface. Sanding down to bare wood is not necessary. Simply clean the surface and recoat with more Waterlox Original Marine Finish Satin and allow to dry.
